Is Faith Relevant in the Treatment and Prevention of Depression?

In January  2012 the American Journal of Psychiatry published an editorial by Dan Blazer, M.D., PhD.  The title of the editorial was Religion/Spirituality and Depression: What Can We Learn from Empirical Studies?  

For those of you who don’t know, an empirical study is research that collects data by means of observation or experiment.  It is NOT opinion and researchers do not draw firm conclusions from any result.

Tips for Catholic/Christian Dads

This Sunday is Father’s Day.  Don’t forget.  Run out and get those barbecue utensils, wrench set, or last minute gift cards.  At least remember the cake, heavens the cake! 

Since it is Father’s Day weekend I thought I’d do the unthinkable: give advice on how to be a great dad.  Every mental health profession has a list.  I’ll keep mine to five.
